The TS-2 used for testing Night Vision Goggle (NVG) Mount Assemblies and NVG Power Pack Assemblies.  The TS-2 is very small (0.75” x 1.5” x 2.75”) and inexpensive, yet performs more tests than the current test set TS-3895A/UV costing thousands of dollars.  The TS-2 is designed to be used by crewmembers; thus allowing them to test their NVG mount assembly and power packs prior to leaving the unit area for the mission.

The Test Set TS-2 will test the standard Night Vision Goggle Mount Assembly for electrical continuity as well as test the Power Pack Assembly (battery pack) and other similar earlier battery packs for continuity, and low or missing batteries.  Additionally it will test the Case Battery Assembly (Clip on  Power Source—COPS) for continuity.

Issuing the TS-2 test set to crewmembers reduces workload on ALSE technicians, reduces demand for the expensive TS-3895A/U,  allows redistribution of the TS-3895A/U to AVIM where it can be fully utilized, and gives each crew member the ability to know the operational status of his/her NVG mount assembly and NVG power pack assembly before mission start.
